What is Home Child Care setting?
Home Child Care setting is where the providers are allowed to keep up to 6 children in their own homes. They have the convenience to work from their own homes and get to enjoy working with children of ages 2 months to 12 years.
What is the difference between private care and Licensed care providers?

Is my child safe in home child care?
- Providers are unmonitored, there is no compliance system to follow.
- Have no training on regulations like child care and early years act, 2014 as well as agency policies and procedures.
- In emergency situations they are not trained on policies and procedures.
- They are regular babysitters.
- No training on providing programming and nutrition for children.
- Limited knowledge on child development.
- Limited knowledge on quality care.
Licensed Home Child Care
Is my child safe in home child care?
- Providers are regularly monitored through the licensed agency where ministry of education has access to their homes
- They are fully trained on Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 regulation, and on the agency policies and procedures
- They provide professional childcare with the knowledge of child development
- They attend professional development on an ongoing basis to keep themselves motivated
- Providers collaborate with the agency’s Home Child Care Consultants in designing daily routines that are nurturing and support children’s health and well-being
- They also collaborate with specialized community resources to support and implement the Individual Program Plan (IPPs)
- Providers work with families to understand the children’s needs and create a blend of culture and child development to reflect the 4 foundations of “How Does Learning Happen?” Pedagogy.
Is my child safe in home child care?
Your child is very safe in Home Child Care setting. We ensure child’s safety by:
Conducting Police Reference checks on providers and any family member over 18.
All the providers are First Aid & CPR certified.
Providers are regularly monitored through the agency, house and equipment is regularly checked making sure providers are in compliance with Ministry of Education and local authorities.
Homes are inspected by the Ministry of Education and Regional Children Services authorities.
What kind of activities are provided in home child care for my child?
Providers are trained on quality programming and activities. They plan daily activities keeping the child’s whole development in mind.
The activities include arts & crafts, sensory, science & nature, language, social emotional and physical. Nutritious food is provided according to Canada Food Guide.
